We stayed there when we we went to a pop concert which was close by. We had an enjoyable stay whilst we were there. The staff were very friendly and we felt very comfortable
The bathroom could have been a little larger, but it was no real problem.

I literally just used it as somewhere to sleep, so was in the hotel for about 10 hours, but it was clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly.

The beds were hard, the breakfast wasn't fresh and not very nice. The manager didn't accommodate our complaints. The hotel was old fashioned and dirty.

The restaurant meals and breaky was good food. Free Wifi but had to get new passwords if you logged off more than twice. Free carparking but have to walk around a couple of buildings back through front door of building due to renovation work. Very annoying if you forgot something in your car each day as we did several times.
Very cold old room. The central heating was not turned on and we asked for a heater and were still freezing. Had to work a track suit to bed. The power kept tripping out the entire stay and we did not know this at first and kept thinking the appliances stuffed up. There is only a handheld shower rose attached to a bath combo and it has been installed at a ridiculous height so you can not have a shower without holding the handpiece to wash you which is so stupid. There is room for the bracket to go up high and is beyond me why it is this way. There is no shower curtain and very small bathroom so all your stuff gets wet. Very old furniture and room needs renovations for sure. No fridge, No ironing board or iron only avail. at reception

Road outside was quiet and it had free parking.
It is a bit hard to get at if you come up from the seafront because of the layout of the road.

Quite a nice Victorian hotel just yards from the beach in upmarket Hove. The bar menu/room service was well priced but the room was small. Shower was fine and there was a good new tv in the room.

Centrally located in Hove with an easy stroll to the promenade. Close to a range of restaurants/cafes.
Very noisy - stag and hen nights overran the hotel till the early hours of the morning. On arrival several guests were in Reception complaining that their rooms were very cold.

Friendly staff and a hotel with character and victorian charm
My room looked run down. Paint peeling on windows. Old (slightly stained) Jacuzzi did not look too hygienic

The reception staff were excellent, and the position of the hotel was central to all my needs.
No pillowcases on the first night. Hot water tap in sink not working, shower head not securely screwed to wall. Cracked and dirty tiles on bathroom floor. Only one bath towel, I had to request a 2nd. I was assured onsite parking, this was not the case. My car had to be parked 100 yards from the hotel. Fixtures & fittings very tired, and the room needed a very good clean. I would not stay there again. I have stayed in a great many hotels in my life, the Courtland is one of the worst I have stayed. However all staff were excellent.

The bed was far too hard, the window was almost falling out and could not be opened or closed so the blind was blowing across the room all night, no lift to the third floor had to get out on 2nd and walk round numerous corridors and up stairs to get to room. The hotel is being extended and the car park is on a "building site" at the back. Went for a walk and came back for a relaxing drink but only managed to get a quick one as the bar closed very early for a hotel (before 10.30).
